Family Fun in Roatan

Activities You and Your Family Can Enjoy

Roatan, Honduras, isn't just a place for excellent diving, it's also a place where you can include your family in a lot of its activities.

The following fun activities in Roatan are just some in which the whole family can participate in.

DOLPHIN ENCOUNTER, ANTHONY'S KEY RESORT

One of many dolphin programs at Anthony's Key Resort but this one requires no swimming skills and there is no minimum age. The staff at AKR will take you and your family to Baily's Key lagoon on the premises where they will give a quick briefing, followed by a wade through the waist deep water. Parents and children can observe and "pet" the dolphins and pictures are definitely encouraged.

Other programs for older children and parents are the Dolphin Swim & Snorkel, Dolphin Dives and Dolphin Trainer for a Day. There is also a Dolphin Summer Scuba Camp for children ages 5 – 14, and children ages 10 –1 4 can even receive their Jr. Scuba Diver Certificate.

Costs:

  • Dolphin Encounter / Dolphin Swim & Snorkel: $73 per guest, $84 per non-guest
  • Dolphin Dives: $84 per guest, $112 per non-guest
  • Dolphin Trainer for a Day: $160 per guest, $202 per non-guest
  • Dolphin Summer Scuba Camp: $999 per child

CARAMBOLA BOTANICAL GARDENS

Across from Anthony's Key Resort are the Carambola Botanical Gardens, home to the summit of the Carambola Mountain. The 30-minute climb up this mountain leads to the top of the island where you can see the incredible view of the pristine Caribbean coast. There are hundreds of species of wildlife, birds, trees and herbs to experience, some native to Honduras.

SHERMAN ARCH'S IGUANA FARM

Travel past the French Harbour along the main road in French Key and you'll arrive at Sherman Arch's Iguana Farm. Come early afternoon if you want to watch and participate in the iguanas feeding time. This is great fun for the children who want to see dozens upon dozens of iguanas in one area.
