JUNE

  • SAN PEDRO LOBSTERFEST
  • June 15 – 22, 2007
  • Sure to be an annual classic, be one of the first to experience the First Annual San Pedro Lobsterfest. San Pedro, the only town in Ambergris Caye, is a 20-mile by 2-mile island covered with coconut trees. There are plenty of events to be enjoyed by the whole family, including live music, cooking competitions, dancing and competitions – one of which is called "The Chicken Drop" where one picks a chicken and bets on where it will relieve itself. http://www.sanpedrolobsterfest.com

  • PLACENCIA LOBSTERFEST
  • June 21, 2007
  • The second lobster festival in Belize this month, this one is held in a village in Placencia to commemorate the start of the lobster season. Events include food tastings, concerts, games and fishing tournament.

  • DIA DE SAN PEDRO
  • June 29, 2007
  • Although called Dia de San Pedro (San Pedro Day), this is actually a 3-day event celebrating St. Peter, the patron saint of San Pedro. Boats and fisherman are blessed, followed by a mass. There is also an early morning boat parade.

JULY

  • CAYE CAULKER LOBSTER FEST
  • July 1, 2007
  • Yet another lobster festival – this time in Caye Caulker. Try out various lobster dishes and participate in the bicycle race.

  • BENQUE VIEJO DEL CARMEN FIESTA
  • July 14, 2007
  • Join the celebration of Benque Viego del Carmen by dancing the marimba, watching the cultural shows and eating the delicious food. This the start of 9 days of prayer.

AUGUST

  • INTERNATIONAL COSTA MAYA FESTIVAL
  • August 2 – 5, 2007
  • The 6th Annual International Costa Maya Festival, held in Ambergris Caye, includes exciting parades, music, food, the crowning of the Costa Maya queen, and plenty of contests.http://ambergriscaye.com/festival/

  • SAN JOAQUIN FIESTA
  • August 8 – 16, 2007
  • This festival in Corozal celebrates San Joaquin, a Catholic Patron Saint. Each day begins with a Mass and ends with a night of dancing, food and crafts.

  • DEER DANCE FESTIVAL
  • August 16, 2007
  • The Deer Dance Festival will be celebrated in San Antonio, Belize, a village of about 1000 inhabitants. San Antonio got it start when Guatemalan immigrants left their country to avoid military service.
